What is RYLA?
RYLA is an intensive training program for community youth leaders. Young people chosen for their leadership potential attend an all expenses paid seminar, camp, or workshop to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice.
Participating Rotary Clubs will select the participants, pay their expenses, and insure transportation to and from the conference. RYLA’s Core Curriculum includes…
- Fundamentals of leadership
- Ethics of positive leadership
- Importance of communication skills in effective leadership
- Problem solving and conflict management
- Rotary’s purpose and service to the community
- Building self confidence and self esteem
- Elements of community and global citizenship
About RYLA Seminars…
During this intensive seminar, keynote speakers from various professions, and perhaps even a few Rotarians, address the participants on issues which are particularly relevant to the development of strong personal and leadership qualities. Much time is devoted to activities that provide for participants to get to know each other and to work together on group projects. Evenings are devoted to varied activities such as organizing a talent show, recreation activities, campus movies and concerts, and social events.
Staff…
The conference will be directed by Rotary professionals, assisted by qualified educators. In addition, lectures and discussions will be presented by experts and leaders in business, law, government, and the community.
District 7350 RYLA candidates are…
- High school juniors entering their senior year
- Those who demonstrate leadership abilities
- Potential leaders who work toward results
- Young people who will build lifetime relationships with other participants
- And…those who want to enrich their lives and have fun
