New District 7360 - Merger with 7370

DGE Jim Eberly invites your comments on this and other ideas on how we can make District 7360 terrific. Please email or call (814.571.8095) with any input.
November 2011
One of the changes that will be coming with our new district will be the realignment of some of the Areas.  Many Areas are unchanged but in some cases clubs have been shifted to create what we hope will be  a better synergistic effect.  Wherever neighboring clubs can work together and share ideas there will be an increased likelihood of bigger and better projects, more publicity for the clubs and more grant money to help fund the project.  The majority of new areas will consist of 5 clubs, but none will be less than 4 nor larger than 6.

With the increase in the size of the district the role of the Assistant Governor will become even greater than it is now.  I think that each Assistant Governor will have the opportunity to work with his/her area clubs and make a significant impact on those clubs and our district.  If you are interested in being an Assistant Governor, or serving on the district level in some other way, please let me know quickly.
October 2011
Everything about how your new district will operate is open for discussion and there are still a lot of areas to be examined. Some of the progress:
  • The crossing of the t’s and the dotting of the i’s that are legally required continues
  • The exploration of the web programs that we will use is ongoing
  • A look at how the Assistant Governors’ roles will be shaped
Another topic is where District-wide events should be held. A quick search on Google maps shows that the travel time to State College is most equitable for all. From the far eastern end of our district (Tamaqua, PA) the time is 2:20, from the south (Romney, WV) it is 2:43 and from the north (Coudersport, PA) it is 2:38. A move farther east (to Lewisburg) takes Romney travel time up to 3:52 and a move farther west (Altoona) increases Tamaqua and Coudersport to just about 3 hours (2:58 and 3:05, respectively). District-wide events should and will be held all over our district but we need to be mindful of the travel times for all.
September 2011

RI’s Board of Directors approved District 7350’s and District 7370’s merger plan.  It becomes effective on July 1, 2012. Now it is up to us, as the membership, to build a new district, 7360, that is even greater than the sum of its parts.

Our own DGE Jim Eberly will be the first District Governor of our new district.  A tremendous amount of hard work lays ahead for Jim and his team and all members of both districts will need to come together and offer Jim whatever help is needed.
